IT WAS TIME TO REROOF THE HISTORIC CHURCH on Newbrook Camp Grounds. The old church was buillt in 1931 by the early pioneers in the Balsam Grove District near Newbrook, Alberta. A revival had taken place in the community under the preaching of Rev.Jackson in the little school house and the 70 converts took it upon themselves to build a house of worship, The land was donated by Elizabeth and George Croswell and many members of the community donated money from their meagre finances as well as their time to build the church.
During the past two years of Newbrook Camp Meeting, many loyal friends of the camp donated Memorials to see that the little church did not succomb to rot and ruin because of a badly delapitated roof. We also give many thanks to Brian Davis of Brockville who not only directed replacing the roof with steel sheeting but did the lion's share of the work as well. We give thanks to God! We have ordered new front doors as well to replace the present badly deteriorating doors to give the church a brand new appearance! |
